Can’t do it. This book is exhaustingly self-indulgent. Tries far too hard to be “deep”. Comes across as annoying.

god, I love this world-building so much

very obsessed with everything in this book, quickly becoming a top 10 for me

I sorely missed Kuang’s world-building & character work. It also seems inspired a bit by one of my favorite shows, The Magicians (*ahem* Alice *ahem*) so I’m excited!!

I didn’t think I could love Sam Gamgee more and yet somehow I do!

such an interesting perspective; as someone named after a “notable” Biblical woman, I love this premise… how much of their lives did we not know simply because the Bible chose to omit them… and also a fascinating look at oral histories & the impact of gendered roles (reminds me of the photography exhibit “Kitchen Table”)

this is my proclamation of love for my besties <3

if this ever becomes a tv series, violet’s stomach needs character creds with all the pitching, dipping, and clenching it does in this book
