Verrry quirky prose so far— it’s not exactly an easy read because of the use of emotionally-charged allegory, but I’m getting through

Loving it so far; I’ve gotten to the point where I’d rather sit with the book than do anything else 😆. I’ve missed this feeling! Min Jin Lee is truly a wonderful storyteller, she’s one of those timeless writers. Slay. More soon!

Very YA… giving toxic… still pretty engaging and can get profound too at times

Sorry to all the books currently on hold but I seriously cannot move forward with them right now 😵‍💫😔 HAHAHAHA time for a fresh new read that I can hopefully speed through (in a good way)!

It’s giving very much misery porn :// so far it’s reminding me of A Little Life but with a skinny white b*tch as the main character…

Still waiting for something redeeming or meaningful to happen! So far it’s all fluff.

I’m touched by these lines :) how nice to have a perspective of gratitude accompanying wistfulness instead of desperation and anger? The world is on your side— as long as you choose to see it as so!

It’s really really good

Pretty good so far— yet another mother-daughter story dealing with food (haha Crying in H Mart echos). Soffer writes so succinctly; she captures feelings I can’t put into words and I wish I was reading an e-book version so I could highlight so many parts.

Book vibe: very sad, deals with self-harm, self-loathing, pain, but easy descriptions and dialogues
