I hope I am going to love this.. so far the first twist was so fun, the next big twist I saw coming from a mile away… I think a lot will depend on second half, but I do always enjoy Rachel Harrison’s writing.

I am enjoying all 3 timelines, but in particular Ozzie’s timeline… to have been there when the US military was desegregated. What a time it was and sad to see us going backwards.

I am retrying this one again after soft dnf months ago… the audio was not working for me bc if it a bunch of emails and letters but now my book club is reading it so giving another go.

How did I not know this was going to be a story about LOVE.

I’m so scared for the ending

So far it’s very whimsical, nonlinear plot.. a little hard to follow sometimes but lots of flowery prose

It’s not living up to the original series. It started off really strong and now at just past the mid point, I feel like almost nothing is happening… other than lots of genealogy

Flew through first 30% and can’t wait to see what happens… totally reminding me of the night ends with fire or scarlet alchemist

I’m going to be honest, the plot is moving pretty slowly and I’m frustrated that the main character evander started with no memory of the traumatic event (why he’s where he is) and that half way through he has not recovered any of his memory and no one has told him anything either. This might be a purely vibes and atmosphere book.

People merging consciousness for the good of the many. Super creepy dystopia and hard to look away from. It feels like this could be real. The element of losing one’s mind due to Alzheimer’s adds a complexity similar to memento.

This is so realistic and scary how close we might be to nuclear war and utter destruction

I’m obsessed. I really hope the second half is as good as the first.

It’s a very fast read and I love the audio, although I’m finding myself wishing that all the men were not totally evil. The ending is going to make or break this for me!

This is a book for all the man haters… I can feel a feminine rage coming on

Fairly slow start, a book for classics aficionados, as first third at least tracks Great Gatsby if it were set in a scifi future where people are mod-ded for everything from appearance to athleticism to neurological. Great prose if you can get past the slow start.

The low stakes are making for this more of a vibes-y book. Enjoying the small glimpses of romance but also wanting the plot to move a bit faster than it is..

Based on first 4 chapters, I think this will be a step up from rewitched!

This is what I would consider a “cozy horror” or “romantic horror”… it’s not super scary but there’s a spook factor and a great historical context of colonial America

I’m excited for this after learning it’s dystopian about climate change.. so far it is a philosophical family drama about a world without cars, where many plants are inedible or wiped out by blight, 3 sisters who are just getting by. There is some mystery too.

Has anyone already read this? The first two chapters are definitely not my “normal”

So far it is literal descent into hell. I’m not finding it exceedingly dense like I feared, so far this feels very readable! Looking forward to my slow read of this book, one chapter per day..

So far this book is a regency era found family of abused women… the patriarchy is disgusting, feels over the top even though this is probably how it was. Maddening

The symbolism is enthralling.. it’s bloody, forbidden but also cathartic

I am fascinated by this entire celestial world — entering the Umbral Plane ✨✨✨

Why are we not seeing more hype for this book

I can already tell this book is going to destroy me.

This book has me in a complete entrancement. Cannot look away. Loving it!!!

I’ve started flying through this once reaching the 35-40% mark! Loving the characters and the magical world but want to learn more about this strange (futuristic?) tech!
