Maria and I read this on our road trip and now we need to find time to finish it together. So cutie

I lied I do have interest in reading the rest of the books (need to prep for the Amazon series)

This book is INCREDIBLE

You know a book is good when u reach chapter 6 and order the rest of the series

and I truly love books about trauma

This is a gothic dark academia dark romance and I’m EATING it up

I don’t dislike this book but I also don’t know what to make of it. My typical reading speed is ~70 pages/hr and it just took me an hour and a half to read 64 pages of this book. I’m liking the general idea that this book is more of an experience than it is anything else, and I suppose I’m just along for that ride.

First half is this was truly a slog I’m trying not to dnf. At least the lovers have finally gotten the change to be lovers.

Currently on a third libby hold. Since it’s a book Nate and I are doing together it’s taking more time. Also crazy that 35% is still 16hrs (don’t tell Nate but I have us listen on 1.15x and he hasn’t said anything even though he swears he has to read on 1x normally) (I keep slowly increasing by .05) (I listen normally on 1.5x-1.75x)

Starting a reread of ACOTAR to prep for book 6&7 as well as CC3

And I will in fact be falling into a SJM obsession again every series hits every damn time

I’m loving this book and glad that I’m listening w/ Nate bc he is able to help explain some of the phrases and general history going on at the time of the book that I would not have gotten if I read this on my own. I’m also glad I’m audiobooking bc I think it allows me to digest it better. There are so many details but they don’t feel unnecessary & im excited to see how they continue to play out.

Okay I’m ACTUALLY gonna read this. I know the controversy surrounding this book, but so far I think Van Der Kolk is doing a great job breaking down the brain and explaining what goes on when trauma happens in a neurological way, which I think is very cool and interesting.
