Deirdre is starting Not Under Forty
I love reading Willa Cather but I’m finding this small book hard.I am well over the age of 40 but I’m still finding it difficult reading. The very first essay was filled with so many quotes in French with no translation that I feel I missed what it was trying to say. I felt like a country bumpkin At a Boston Brahman’s literary salon.

If I was editing the reprint of this book, I would add copious footnotes.

I love that this is a slim book and not a thick tome on verse. I find it readable, enjoyable, and with enough new material to have me searching for the occasion definition that sends me to to more in-depth explanations. I could use this as a textbook as a class on poetry.

I made the mistake of checking out too books at the same time. I love the writing and realize that I had read The King of California I also about California water issues. I find it very interesting. You really need to savior big books like this that have a lot to do with environmental issues.

This book contains a lot of great information that makes me slow down and think. It’s hard to absorb it all and it’s a big book. I have to take it back to the library and re-check it out.

It’s an enjoyable read but after finishing the Hollow Kingdom that was narrated by a crow, I’m finding this more just a sweet story about a bunch of stray animals in Paris.

I thought I was done reading about 911 but I’m glad I found this book.Though I know how it ends from the start learning about them firefighters and their families increase the tension.

Sort of reminds me of me and Mr. Gomez, a book about an American trying to build a house in Baja. If you read this book and me and Mr. Gomez you would probably never want to build or restore a house in another country. LOL

It’s not a book you wanna read it from cover to cover. It’s more of a manual for how to do native garden. I might pick it up and try to read it again since I’m visiting someone who has it but I think of this more as a reference book.
