Plowing through it on the start of vacation. Getting ready for Kenyon’s book club!

Reading aloud to George, slowly but surely.

Family read aloud for our family reunion book club discussion!

Snagged an advance edition!!!!

This might end up being a Did Not Finish for me. Taking a break to read some Elizabeth Strout and might come back to it.

Not really understanding the hype so far. It definitely feels written with the INTENTION of becoming a movie. The main character’s juvenile language combined with his brilliant nonstop calculations feels distracting.

Finally finally reading it after all this time.

Trying to read all of Kingsolver’s fiction this year. I can already see some similarities to Prodigal Summer (how does climate change affect country bumpkins?) but it’s different enough & of course her writing is beautiful enough that I am ALL IN.

The very first line had me hooked. “My first word was ‘mother,’ spoken out loud and with texture.”

Getting ready for Kenyon’s book club next week!

Very Lincoln-in-the-bardo esque, but more preachy. Homeboy def has an agenda here.

Seriously, everything I love in a novel. I feel ruined for the rest of the year- how can I top it?!

I’m forcing myself to get through this because the plot is interesting, but his writing style is grating on my nerves. Not a fan.

Turned to the second page and realized this is another Wendell Berry re-read for me, but it’s so damn good I just don’t care. I’ll re-read it every year for the rest of my life before I get sick of it.

Identical story structure to “Maybe in Another Life” which I happened to read a few weeks ago. It’s an interesting format, but feels somewhat predictable.

Oh my GOSH, this book. 😍

Betsy and I are hosting a Mom & Me book club. Very happy mom over here! 🙋🏼‍♀️

Eep I am enjoying this one SO much. Can’t wait to get my hands on Heart the Lover next.

Ok, ok, I get the hype. Not sure how anything else I read this year can compete. *timshel!*

Listening to an audiobook for the first time in a decade? Helping me get through boring work days!

Oh boy, here we go- another imagined near-future climate-changed novel. 😬

Bizarre so far, but forcing myself to keep going because it’s Richard Powers.
