Going to do a slow reread of the series and already annotating so much that I missed on my first read

I fear Ward is tiptoeing a very thin line between making this specific storyline thematically powerful or hollow and weak.

This book could solidify such an incredible character arc or just be repetitive of one we've already seen in book 2.

A quiet meditation on the psychology/sociology of a serial killer. Truly horrifying how Hughes humanizes Steele to show that killers can appear externally perfectly normal.

Genuinely could end up being my favorite book of 2026! This is fascinating and idk if anything else will top it!

Viktor’s plotline is starting to feel like how Vader in the Dark Lord of the Sith comics builds his fortress on Mustafar to enter the Dark Dimension for one purpose (that I won’t say since it would probably spoil this)

I was not expecting to relate to these characters let alone relate to them this deeply. Absolutely love Dostoevsky for the same reason I love Bergman’s films. They both just so completely and utterly understand the human condition and communicate it so beautifully.

Part of me wants to binge this to finish by the end of the year but the other part of me wants to put off the inevitable emotional devastation🥲
