The author just claimed that the TV crews disobeyed orders to stop broadcasting Nicolae Ceausescu's last speech when the crowd started yelling, but that's false. They did, in fact, stop broadcasting though they kept recording. I'm also pretty sure Ceausescu wasn't pretending there was something wrong with the mic like the author implies. Getting easily verifiable facts wrong makes me question all the others...

I'm listening to this as an audio book narrated by Ron Perlman. He's terrible. No emotion at all and every character has the same voice. However, I have to admit that it's amusing how he pronounces the main character's name, Eph, as Eef and his inability to say 'pawn' without it sounding like 'porn' made the part about the pawn broker in his pawn shop amusing.

As I was listening to this audiobook I was thinking that it seemed like the "research" the authors did probably consisted solely of looking up extreme medical stories on Wikipedia. Oddly enough, shortly after this thought they told another story straight out of a Wikipedia article I had just read the day before.

This is terrible and I'm really not sure I'm going to finish it. I'm listening to the audio book and I don't know if I can take another 4.5 hours of this level of condescension and disrespect toward pretty much everyone in history up to about 10 years ago. Not to mention the bad jokes that aren't even a little funny.

So far, this book is extremely boring. All new information is being presented in small bits here and there amongst large swaths of the same tedious details. Also, "hungries?" Really? Note to zombie fiction writers: It's not the word "zombie" that makes the genre cliche. Just call a zombie a zombie and be done with it.
I'm going to keep plodding through for now, but if it doesn't pick up fast, I'm dropping it.

It's getting pretty tedious. There are several plot lines that, so far, are unconnected and the author seems to think I want to read a two page description of the garden belonging to a character that currently has no importance. I'm going to bail on this book if it doesn't pick up soon.
