I am taking a massive break from grimdark fantasy after this. The real world is already dark enough. Honestly, reading the news about recent wars and genocide feels just as depressing as reading this series. Excellent writing - just so damn sad.

Thanks to Joe Abercrombie’s “First Law” series and gritty realism being my last fantasy read, I am afraid I can’t read Romantasy the same way. Tent scenes where characters magically smell like pine instead of unwashed hair and bad breath just feel ridiculous now. 😂😂😂 god I hope that goes away

This series is basically fantastic characters and writing of absolutely terrible people. No heroes to be found here. Just a bunch of pricks with zero self awareness that lose all character development and growth the second they get the chance 😂 how very human of them.

I love this series. Peak sarcasm and wit. Characters have catastrophic self awareness and are somehow still hilarious.

Ugh. I hate it when books aren’t free on kindle unlimited and 8274 million pages. It means I HAVE to buy the audio for when I’m sucked in and can’t read… but also HAVE to buy the kindle version so I can save my highlights while reading … and then if I’m going to spend that much, I should also buy the physical copy too and have something to show for it?!
