This book is not for the faint-hearted people or those with weak constitutions....

Everyone is terrible and I am sucked in.

Willow is terrible and Anna blames her for a lot, but Anna is just as terrible because she is unable to think for herself. Willow says one thing and Anna goes off and does it without any consideration, then gets at Willow afterwards.
I LOVE the drama.

Well this dives right into "it".... O_O

This is already giving me vibes of Black Swan meets A Separate Peace and I am into it.

Nothing irks me more as a reader than an author who repeats themselves. It comes off as either: A) The author thinks the reader is stupid with the memory of a goldfish, or B) The Author's editing is so poor they can't remember they JUST told us the same information 2 chapters ago.... and the chapters are only 2 pages long....

Incredibly repetitive.....

I want to devour the rest of this book and I am genuinely mad work is getting in the way of my reading lol

Only a fleck of horror or far--still nothing terrifying-- but DAMN I am just so sucked in. I love the writing. I love the imagery. I love the slow burn.

The description of Elias being woodsmoke gets a bit repetitive, but I don't mind. It's done quickly enough that the moment I notice it, it's on to something else.

Not a lot of horror happening quite yet, but the slow-burn yearning is A+, and I cannot get over the incredible writing and voice.

I'm really vibing with Cañas' writing style. It has a cool sort of melodic poeticism, really adding to the ominous imagery. It's like I'm standing in a brightly lit room as the story begins that slowly starts to darken as I'm still inside, adding to the dread. And the slow burn-romance!? SWOON!

A Bird Sings...--I loved the premise of this one and would have easily devoured it, if it were a full-length novel. This would make a good movie.

The Norwood Trouble-- I really enjoyed this one. I loved the writing style & imagery. Not scary, but a cool sense of tension.

A Grief of the Dead--another one where I enjoyed the writing style. Not really scary/horror. It gets a little confusing in the middle w/ the dialogue, but a cool premise.

Flicker--I wish this one was a bit longer. The premise was interesting (Very Conspiracy Theories-Meets-The-Purge) but I feel like there were giant jumps and chunks missing that could have been helpful. The ending seemed too sudden, even for a short story.

The Most Strongest...-- I like the lore of this one. It's written in an informal and unique way and I feel like I'd like it better listening to an audio version.

Pressure-- Interesting premise and I liked the ending, but the 2nd person POV made it hard for me to get into.
Dark Home--I enjoyed this one. Lots of Nigerian lore and very looming with tension.

The Rider -- SO good. One of my favorites so far.

The Aesthete -- Interesting premise but a bit hard to follow. I'd genuinely enjoy a full-length novel about this so I could learn more and dive deeper

Lasire'n -- REALLY liked this concept! Longer but really enjoyable

So far:

Reckless Eyeballing -- Meh.
Eye & Tooth -- I really enjoyed this one and wished it was longer. Loved the plot. Currently my favorite
Wandering Devil -- Another interesting one that I enjoyed a lot, but I felt like it was almost too short, omitting some crucial details that could have been useful.
Invasion of the Baby Snatchers -- Cool concept, but I didn't love the writing style. My least favorite so far.

I don't really love how Millie is essentially terrified of her toxic ex who treated her so poorly, and yet Finn is SO incredibly jealous.
And he's jealous in a way that isn't endearing....
