This book was published in 1982; and although it has many twists and turns and the characters always seem to intertwine - I suppose that's what makes for a good novel. This historical fiction book about Vietnam is very good. It started in the early 1920s, and I am currently at the point where the French and Viet Minh are getting ready for the battle of Dien Ben Phu ---- so far this is an intriguing and very good read
