Really fun and enjoyable so far, something really charming about 90s manga (when it's not horrible racist/misogynistic which I havent seen here so far...) I'm watching the '98 anime at the same time and its cracking me up.

Finally started this one, lots of laughs so far and appreciating all the nerdy references

Our next book as we work through the resident evil novels, I believe our last one that's based on one of the games? or second to last. Enjoying it so far, I love Rebecca Chambers.

I'm pretty sure if I didn't have a million other things going on I could read this in one sitting, I'm so engrossed.

I realized this book felt familiar because I'm also reading Blonde, which is another biographical (however fictionalized) story of the life of a young actress with a focus on an emotionally abusive/distant mother.

I wasn't able to do the voices this time bc my voice was going from screaming on rides at Disney land. my life is so hard 😔

It's been a long time since I've read some non-fiction, I forgot how engrossed I get in it. It's really interesting so far, I didn't know anything about Jennette before this.

I need Jill and Carlos to kiss, idk if they will since I'm p sure they didn't in the game but I would like that very much.

I was reading while waiting to get a drug test done for a new job, I should've just started reading it aloud:

"a cigarette calmed the nerves, yes, but Gladys drew the line at marijuana, what the papers called reefer; God damn, she wanted Della to know she was no hophead and she was no junkie; she was no round-heels God damn it and she'd never done it for the money, or almost never."

It's wild what you'll put up with in a good book. like very very few page breaks...

I think S.D. Perry writes some of the best villains because they're just absolutely despicable people. All the scenes written from their pov is just like UGH, THEY SUCK and that's fun for me to read.

Really incredible first chapter, I am REALLY enjoying Oates' writing.

Per Aaron's recommendation. He said Tori wasn't able to finish this one because it was too disturbing, so far nothing too crazy has happened but enough things to make me wary.... anxious to read more.

S.D. Perry is falling into the trap I've seen many fanfic authors fall to: Having Latino characters use intermittent Spanish phrases when they're speaking mostly English. I've seen much discussion of this in my years of fandom, mostly negative feelings on this writing choice.
I think if you're gonna use a mix of both it should beeee... like full sentences, not single words thrown in. That's my onion.

Great news everyone: It's not set in a highschool! The protagonist is 20 years old! I'm enjoying it so far, I kinda love crime boss love stories.

We started another one today!! So excited to have Carlos and Jill back, ever since the RE3 remake they've been out favorite duo.
S.D. Perry is great at writing villains that are just so despicable and corrupt, it's really enjoyable to hate them. I get to bust out my Russian accent for Nicholai, so I'm having fun.

not sure if I'm gonna finish this, its cute but it's not really stimulating my brain in any way. and I have WAY more books to read.
