Well researched, but given that the topic involved the supposed finding of plants that survived the last ice age (a glacial refugium) it's odd that the book doesn't include a chapter on why this is important or actual examples of where this has happened.

Very informative and extremely fact dense. I would say having an undergraduate degree in science is definitely a bonus to understand the concepts presented here. At the time I read it the book was already 20 years old, so I can only assume that the science of fossils has progressed on the meantime.
