This is not that relevant, but I really think Sophie Lark doesn’t know anything about the process of becoming a doctor. This is the stupidest complaint, but it is the thing most taking me out of the book!

Okay, I am going to nitpick for a second. If magic is real and hell is real and we have known it is real since the ancients, how do the philosophers have the same conclusions? For example, the book discusses Pascal’s wager which is an interesting philosophical idea because we don’t know what happens after you die. It wouldn’t make any sense as a thought experiment when we know hell is real!

I really like the MMC! He is a really compelling character with flaws that both a) exist and b) aren’t like psychopathy. You get a good sense of why he acts this way. However, the set up is soooo convoluted
