Well, well, well... Transcendentalism, and outdoor literature, we meet again. I'm loving this. I love this. This book is like I'm reading in a hammock in the shade on a warm summer afternoon. Nature is healing (I am nature).

Can't tell if I'm grumpy about how the book is going because of the book sucking or... Well, there's no other reason.

Goodreads has the page number wrong. There's only 403 pages. I might finish this tonight. Thank God for that. This book is disappointing me left and right.

Said it before and I'll say it again, I hate these men. There has not been a single respectable man in this entire novel. In this book, they're liars, rapists, manipulators, and squanderers of opportunity. Lock me in a room with any of them for all of twenty minutes and see who walks out. JFC. And the fact that of the many, MANY different points of view are dedicated to them is so upsetting. Leave them out of this.

Another day another time of gently guiding students through reading a book. And also another day of letting them tell each other to shut up so I don't have to.

I love being right. Also, Juliette, are we *sure* this is the guy for you? The one who just almost ate a butterfly while hanging off a building by his fingertips?

I'm in such a strange spot to watch my students go through the horrifying, heartbreaking realization that this case really and truly was lost from the very beginning. It's so interesting to see their reactions as they each read that chapter one by one.

We've reached the court scenes and my students have reached a point in the year where they don't care about the book. Send help.
