A book I wish I read in high school when I had more of an intellect to consume this level of writing. Needed to read a more mentally stimulating book after the last one & wanted to read more classics this year tbh. Off to a slow start but I think this book requires it. May need to look up some reading guides during this one

uhm bye bc chapter 30s love confession is the best thing i’ve ever read (still not fully into alexis’ character but daniel is carrying).

04/01- day 1 of 75 medium trying to read at least 1 chapter of a book for leisure a day (not sure how i feel about this part of the challenge bc i think making reading mandatory takes the whimsy out of it but at least this is a fun book. plus i usually read more than 1 chapter in a sitting
read chapter 27 & honestly the hype i had for this book diminished maybe 100 pages ago

not sure that i loved this section of the book bc wdym ur an MD PHD and can’t do basic housework… so unrealistic. this also would give me the worst ick. but i am a sucker for a “maybe we were lovers in another life” line so they got me there again.

chapter 18 did NOT need to be as steamy as it was tbh

started this book at the beach yesterday and i’m OBSESSED already. i know there’s some cliches in here but i really needed an easy, light hearted read after the last two books that i just read 😭

my only update for now is that this book is making me sad 😭

Off to a slow start. I picked this book because it reminded me of an old friend, but now I realize I tend to gravitate towards books that mirror real life. Maybe because I tend to want to make sense of life’s most pressing questions/events?

I haven’t been updating since I made a new rule not to use my phone or ipad in bed & I usually read before I sleep! But this book has me in a chokehold right now and the only reason I’ve been so slow to finish is because I’m not sure how I’ll handle the inevitable heartbreak that comes with the ending of an amazing book.

chapter 9 may go down as one of the best chapters in this book so far.

Haven’t updated in 2 days but this book is truly devastating me and genuinely makes me want to burst into tears while reading.

Starting this again after I attempted to read it in the summer. I realized that I didn’t have the emotional bandwidth for this book at the time but I’m feeling ready to read it even though I know it will wreck me emotionally for the foreseeable future.

Muriel talking about meeting with her ex partner & no longer wanting to be with him despite him saying all the right things. Heart= BROKEN. Sometimes there’s just no reconciling what’s been lost & you can still be sad about making the right decision.

started this book at work… why did the first chapter make me wanna cry at my desk? i feel like ill be relating to the main character HARD. i love this line where she talks about her mom, “I look back on those days and it feels gluttonous, all that time and love and life ahead…”

“trying to picture himself on a date now was like trying to imagine himself bungee-jumping, theoretically possible but under what circumstances?”

so far, relating to marnie HARD. and im only 23, she’s 38!!! maybe i need to embrace my youth more and not pretend im older than i am. i have a feeling im going to love this book, i already underlined the first opening line

this book just gets darker and darker and I’m waiting for some hope to come through!

this book opened up with the craziest line and i already know it is going to get much, much worse from here. "i was forced to acknowledge too late, much too late, that i too had loved, that i was capable of suffering and that i was human after all.

i feel like i need a spark notes or reading guide to help me understand and i dont know what points to stop at since theres no chapters but so far very deep and sad.

my fave lines so far:
"... the key to a long life with another, the key that kept it from being a prison, wasn't devotion, which I had a talent for, but forgiveness, which was something I had to learn"
"... death isn't just something that happens to us but something we carry within us, our own deaths and the deaths of others, of worlds, the marvel is we have lasted so long"

i picked up this book at barnes and noble the other day because i thought hey, i could read about a patient who stays in the ICU right? well, it seems debatable now. being a new nurse, i almost felt like this book had too much description. i know it's been 5 years already but i still get war flashbacks when reading about COVID.

now that im on chapter/part 3, it has sooo many beautiful lines and i love it so far!

so far i think i like the series more than the book but i think i'll have to finish this book and the other two before making my final decision. also why did i forget that taylor was plotting on the brothers too i swear that wasn't in the series???
the time jumps are a bit confusing for me

off to a slow start so far but it is setting up a lot of background!
