Surely hes autistic, right? There's no way his behaviour is from "social anxiety" and being "supremely logical." His way of eating is "violent snarfing" and he uses a pencil down his shirt to scratch his chest... and that's from "social anxiety" and being "supremely logical"? Nah.

First thoughts while reading:
MC isn't likeable. At all. No kindness, empathy, or anything.
"Chlorophyll" is used too much.
Trying to be a cosy story but I hate the two MCs (Kiela and Caz)

Right now, this book feels like a waste of time.
I've loved the series up until now. However, I'm 60% of the way through and nothing has happened.
No progression with the conflict. A slight progression with the romance but, once again, interrupted.

"Althea's fists met with the invisible wall that kept her trapped within the nightmares that had already span a web for her to die in."
1) This sentence is flowery nonsense.
2) Nothing bad has happened to this character yet.
3) She is captured by someone who doesn't want to hurt her.
4) Shouldn't it be "spun"?
A nonsense sentence that adds nothing. So far that's the summary of the whole book imo.

This is so hard to read.

My major grievances:
1) Why are so many words and random half sentences italicised?
2) What even is the magic system? I. Don't. Get. It.
3) Why would she travel to find Erwin in jail only to release him before he helps her? Is she dumb?
4) It feels like I've stumbled into a book with characters who have already had a story, and I'm supposed to know and care about them already. I don't.

So great.

I was listening to the audiobook while cleaning the house. The house has now been cleared for hours and so I'm sitting down and listening to it while doing nothing else. Yes, the book is THAT engaging.

Brilliant writing and super engaging.

My prediction is that Sage is the prince and has been intentionally in hiding. His reactions to the king and Queen dying make me think that they are his parents. I predict that Sage didn't get on the boat that sank but ran away or was intentionally sent away.

Either way, I'm super invested.

This book is getting good.

Brilliant bringing Georgia and Nicolette as her guests. Love the female comradery.

Guuuuuurl. Shes walked away from Maxon literally three times already. Right in the middle of an emotional and important conversation, she always walks away and avoids finding a solution. Stop being so dramatic.
"If you want me so much.. why isn't this over?"

Gosh, America makes EVERYTHING about her. She's so selfish and self-absorbed. Maxon deserves better. Man.

Her best friend was literally punished in front of an audience A FEW PAGES AGO for having an affair with her boyfriend. Now America is eager and excited to go on a date with Aspen?! Ugh. This girl is actually an idiot. Maxon is too good for her. She actually should just go home and end this story right now. Maxon deserves better.

Lots of drama has happened. Everyone is dead. I still don't even caaaaaaare.
Why does anyone even like Hollis?
How did she and the guy 'fall in love'?
I'm not saying that the king was amazing, but neither was Silas (?)

All Hollis cares about it what other people think of her. I'm pretty sure she's 12 or 13 years old. A future Queen should be more scheming, aware of her people, and invested in her country. All Hollis care about is jewels and herself. Even her friendship with Delia is exhausting. Poor Delia. She has a a more interesting character and background.

Very, very basic. Maybe I'm too old for this book, but Hollis is so immature. The berry fight? Ugh. Everything she says is basic.

Brie is STILL going in about how she used to be a human and recapping what happened in the last book.
"Back before I understood the curse and before I knew Finn and Sebastian were bothered after a crown I didn't know I wore"
We get it. We know you were put in this position without your consent. You didn't know you had the crown. You've told us many, many times. It is very clear what previously happened.

Just finished the part where Simon is a rat. What a pointless sidestep. Ugh. So unnecessary and didn't add anything to the plot. I'm getting over this book. When will it get interesting?

Thoughts so far:
Was great but now is kinda slow. I don't care about ANY of the characters. I think Simon will be a bad guy in the end. Hate the name Clary. Major Harry Potter vibes but not in a good way. Valentine was obviously her father - no surprises there. Valentine=Voldemort. Not feeling it. I hope it picks up a bit because it's pretty boring right now.
