This book is so long I’m listening on 1.65 and probably permanently breaking my brain

Audiobooks are my thing now

Full of theory and philosophizing but once you penetrate through you see there is a very clear, cohesive, convincing explanation of how liberalism justifies empire (by saying nothing about it at all). Helpful for understanding the history of British empire in India as well as the ongoing problems with liberalism

Super impressive and I learned a lot. I knew destroying forests was bad but I understand the details of why much better now. Also major interventions into thinking about peasant resistance and global capitalism. 10/10 would recommend !!

Once again canon for a reason. Can’t pretend it’s easy to read but I think working through concepts of that magnitude (nationalism, modernity, colonialism, post colonialism, capitalism) might require that at some level (not that it can’t then be translated to be more accessible which this obviously was not). Anyway will be thinking about it a lot forever

Do they teach kids about the Balkans in school yet? It’s so weird we didn’t learn about it

I am learning so much about how to think through sex work, racialization, colonialism, and agency ! Complicated I will report back at the end

Now I have to finish this book and read two more books by next Tuesday
