This is a good book - a very readable page-turner, with lovely prose and an interesting conceited. It just had the misfortune of being the book I’m reading after “Gideon the Ninth”, and everything else just feels flat and predictable in comparison.
As I reach the midway point, my preconceptions are falls some, and I’m trying to force myself to be in the present with this book.
