Bobby Sands is here everybody (my hours long internet deep dive about him gave me the final push to start this beast of a book. It’s nice to hear a familiar name)

I feel like I’ve been reading this for 140 days not 40 Waters is making me work for it

I’ve not started this yet and prob won’t get to it for a while but I needed a way to despair about not checking a star rating before choosing my free book prize for Coralville Public Library Summer Reading Challenge :(( now I’m stuck with a potential stinker :((( one friendly librarian let me go behind the desk to look at my free options and one buzzkill made her move the cart to the main floor and I PANICKED

My children’s library reading spree is over we are now back to our regularly scheduled reading

I’m gonna need to read a four or five star book very soon, six in a row of three or below is starting to wear on me

This is utterly terrible so far but I simply CANNOT dnf it…I need to write a review so cutting and so in touch with the source material that no other person who has 11 copies of LW on their shelf ever waits in a hold line for it again

This feels like a thematically appropriate read for walking around Castro today and Chinatown tomorrow! 🏳️‍🌈🏮

…just this last Thursday I watched a video essay (“Why aren’t more true crime creators anti-cop” by Maggie Mae Fish) that brought up the Pinkerton Detectives. Then they came up as a nuisance in Christmas at the Women’s Hotel, which I finished on Saturday. Now here they are, one third into this book. Is this a sign? What am I supposed to do with this influx of Pinkerton content?
