This is way funnier than I thought it'd be. Borderlands never fails to make me laugh with its goofyass humour. The plot itself is eh but like it was such fun to read that idc

Really enjoying the pacing of this one as the 10-day timeframe really puts a sense of urgency on everything. The switching between POVs is well spaced out though sometimes jarring since we get multiple POV switches per chapter - might have been better to do one POV per chapter. I am really loving the character studies, esp on Szeth, Taravangian, and Adolin. Aaaaahhhhhh it's putting me back in the Stormlight mood!!

I now have the chance to read this on my commute to and from work, and wow do I get sucked in. This is amazing so far. Fast-paced, exciting, you have to work to understand it but not too hard, and you can really tell where other cyberpunk works got their inspiration. Enjoying myself immensely.

"Highly masculine epic fantasies" is a weird phrase to say. This is teaching me I dislike Cozy fantasy and the romance genre, but still ok so far!

Cute story, most characters are compelling (though Mika, despite being our POV character and the one whose backstory has been the most expanded on, feels one dimensional to me. Her personality just seems to be "whatever is best for the situation at hand"). The dialogue has some issues with Therapy Speak, where often I doubt whether people would actually communicate like that. However, I am having fun so far!

finished the first story - i loved it, once it picked up it was a delight to read, and the ending fascinated me. I loved the way that the Lovecraftian horror elements were described, close enough to unsettle you but they felt just outside of full view still. always horror in the periphery. now onto the second half!

Super slow start to the first novella in this two-parter, but now that it's getting into the swing of things I'm enjoying myself more. Heavy on the prose, but some of the imagery is really evocative and I've highlighted a lot of passages. I'm becoming very invested in the characters.

Really enjoy the character work in this instalment. And, as always, Tolkien's imagery and descriptions of nature make me swoon.

enjoying this book a lot more now. if brandon Sanderson can do one thing it's create compelling characters.

Still a delightful fantasy read!! I'm loving how much all the characters are fleshed out and how all their relationships to the Ring and what it represents are explored!!

Definitely a childish read, and I would give it a miss if you are expecting the kind of vibes we got from era 1 Mistborn and Stormlight. However that doesn't mean it's not a fun read. The plot and premise is intriguing and fun, very Douglas Adams esque, but is let down a little by the clumsy writing style.

have to admit. i am still pretty hooked on the romance in this series. taryn and vivi also get a lot more depth in this novel which I'm happy about!

my wishes from the cruel prince are being granted - I can already tell there's more focus on other characters this novel from the outset. lots of development that I'm excited to see continue. holly black seems to be very good at writing political intrigue and i appreciate it! the pacing is also very good, the kind of story where i can get through a quarter of it and not even really notice bc I'm so sucked in.

Cardan is everything I adore in a character so I am very happy with the direction this has taken, but I do find myself kinda disappointed that the focus is SO heavily on Jude and Cardan that all other characters end up pretty sidelined, even though they all seem extremely interested. Do we get to see more of them in following books? I'm especially interested in the other courts in Faerie, pleeeease show me more

I'm warming up to jude and the fairly impressive portrayal of trauma and its ugly sides, especially for a YA novel. but by god is she stupid to trust locke

Currently read Used Record and Shiver. I picked this up after being reminded how in love I am with The Enigma of Amigara Fault and how much I am interested in seeing what else Junji Ito has written. So far Shiver creeped me out a little bit though Used Record didn't do anything for me. I do love that each story has a very comprehensible and basic premise that Ito manages to flesh out into a very interesting story.

Can sniff the love triangle on the wind - I guess no YA book is complete without one of those. Annoyingly right now I'm more interested in Taryn and Vivi's stories than Jude's but maybe some espionage plots will help resolve that!
