This is such a lovely read, almost an English environmental enthusiast's version of Braiding Sweetgrass.

Imagine being 19-20 years old and being this pretentious. Hell, even 24 years old. These kids all need to be drowned or something

Occasionally beautiful prose but honestly, I'm a little bored. Wish there was more of a focus on da Vinci as the other two POV characters don't interest me as much.

Re-reading for the first time in 4 (!!!!) years to see if my tastes have changed and I gotta say... Still compulsively readable.

You know it's good when you're like "maybe just one more chapter, it's not THAT late" and then promptly realize it's 12:30 and you need to be up for work in the morning.

So glad this is feeling more stylistically like The Warm Hands Of Ghosts than the Bear And The Nightingale because WHOG is one of my favorite books ever and I have been craving that writing/atmosphere since I read it. Hoping that keeps up.

Oh I fear this is going to be one of those books that absolutely decimates my sleep schedule. Should expect nothing less from Sophie Kim, frankly.

This book is everything and I hate that I have to go to bed right now because all I want is to finish and start all over again.

I have a feeling that this, like all the other Becky Chambers books I've read before it, is going to destroy me with a kiss to the forehead. And damn if I'm not fully ready for it.
