After reading more of the behind the scenes, as well as around half of the script, ive come to appreciate this book a lot more. its an interesting portrayal of batman. some real effort was put into the symbolism, which becomes clearer and more central in the script. the process behind restoring the artwork was also very intruiging. gained a lot of respect for each of these creators after reading the bonus content.

the whisperer in darkness was phenomenal. absolutely stellar story with all its wonderful weirdness and well layered mystery and intrigue. just a masterclass in writing, honestly. the ending had so much impact on me and i sat there shocked for a while.

the whisperer is darkness im almost done with now. i think its wonderful. lots of links to the general mythos of lovecraft, and seems to go on for far longer than i expected. but i enjoy it a lot.

finished the mask. the mysterious liquid interested me far more than the plot of the rep of rep. https://www.scribd.com/document/75043... i also found this set of tarot cards that i think are very interesting. good designs. the aesthetics that this story puts in your mind are interesting and i appreciate them. very inrturiging sense of mystery. :thumbs up:

the mystery elements are so well done, but it really can feel weighed down but how unlikeable the characters are

A is rude to his wife though he apparently loves her? Even though R makes me really uncomfortable, I think he might be an interesting character to add. A is a portrait of a standard Japanese man, who doesn't express much love for his wife but lives quite a normal life, and R is a perverse representation of the negative parts of mankind. sexual violence, morbid curiosity. A is almost likeable, wants to live for family

theres a lot of things about this book that i like, but it feels difficult to care about characters that are such horrible people. theyre both really unlikeable but in a way its useful as I dont really care if they die.

I finished the highlands section of ring. this included the actual description of the cursed videotape, which I found to be very interesting.

read part 1 of ring. i find the main character of asakawa quite objectionable. i dont like the way he talks about his wife or his baby daughter. the recently explored idea of learn and instinctive fears i find quite personally fascinating, birds know the silhouettes of predators from birth, and suzuki showing a baby girl afraid deeply of demons is remarkably unique and scary.

chapter 4. in this copper visited a friend who had to take time off school. he found out that he needed to wrok at his family's business because an employee was sick, and he learned a lot about how genuine of a character this boy had. It was a good chapter
