This reads like the author has been criticized for hyper sexualizing women, so he intentionally made a “liberated” (quoted for lack of italics) hyper-sexualized female character to defer criticism. Truly painful.

This makes John Scalzi seem like a genuine poet.

This is quite good so far. I do wish the audiobook had a narrator that can actually pronounce Spanish words, for a book set almost entirely in Latin America.

Subtlety is dead and John Scalzi killed it.

So far the conceit of the book is interesting: how does the world react when something everyone knows to be literally impossible happens? Unfortunately it suffers thus far from scalzi schizophrenia (every fucking character talks and acts like the same exact person) and the dialogue may have been written for a literal toddler.

This is so far shockingly personally relatable

I have so much trouble discerning sensationalism from legitimate thought and concern when folks are discussing AI.

I deeply regret jumping into this without reading more about it. I don’t I’m going to DNF this one. I can sniff enemies to lovers a mile away and I refuse to degrade myself.

This has one of the most painfully cringy descriptions of sex that I have ever had the displeasure of reading in a fantasy book. Can’t bring myself to finish the chapter.

I feel like I am reading a master piece that I am too dumb to understand. Very similar to being in a museum of fine arts and just thinking “ooo that’s pretty”

You know your plot is convoluted when the final book opens with a chapter by chapter summary of the first two books
