Good reminder that there is a spiritual world that is much more real than the physical one.

First chapter. Claims that seem to be true: every man wants a battle to fight, adventure to go on, and a beauty to win. Every woman wants to be fought for, an adventure to share, and a beauty to be unveiled.

America lost the battle of Brooklyn, New York, Kips Bay, Fort Washington. They retreated for hundreds of miles. They lost their most competent general (not Washington) to stupidity. Now they are completely dispirited and down trodden as the British are about to take Philadelphia. But America is staging a “brilliant stroke” that they hope will turn the tide of the war… who knows what comes of it

Americans forces are decimated on the Gowan ridge outside of Brooklyn. They out performed for their number but where no match for the British force. About a third, 1000, died or were captured. British lost less than 400.

Now Americans are tasked with holding Brooklyn.

British just raven all the forces outside of the Brooklyn barricade.

British are about to attack New York with 145 ships and 30,000 men. Americans have none and less than 23,000 men, 6000 of which are sick. Soldiers and optimistic but all the generals are terrified.

American troops arrive at New York. Appearance is underwhelming, but the number is large.

Boston has fallen

This is only a two hour audio book so I almost finished it at work. It is very fast passed though and will probably buy it in print. Very eloquent and powerful language
