How is this book so long… it’s like when you cook bacon and don’t expect so much water to ooze out.
Not too pretentious, Tartt half-criticises and half-admires the characters and cultures she presents to us. Is the first twist supposed to be underwhelming? I wish Tartt would stop with all the callbacks (‘if I knew then…’, ‘only years later will I realize’), and the cliche references to fate.
