Fascinating to see Virgil's independence from Homer when it comes to describing the state of the dead. Virgil's Hades is much more dynamic and detailed. You can see him planting the seeds of Dante's imagination.

The Aeneid seems both faster paced and more musical than The Iliad or Odyssey. I'm enjoying those features.

My small gripe with the later books in this series is that Edmund and post-dragon Eustace are indistinguishable characters. Their way of speaking, their skills and interests are identical.
