I am not sure how I feel about this to be honest. I am not sure if I am struggling because the first was so good or because I miss the MMC.

This is alot more exciting that I expected and I think I am in love with the writing style…

Book club pick!

I have read every book in this series and it has been spectacular. I never would have started this if I didn’t love the rest of the series because fertility issue romance just hit too close to home BUT I am interested to see if this book is helpful or hurtful.

Book club pick and I am rather excited!

Got the ARC for this book. Lots of potential but so far quite an immature execution.

Received an ARC copy of this, heard really good things about the other books so excited to see what it will bring.

Got an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley! Haven’t read anything from this author before but I am obsessed with sports romance so I am very excited.

This better be as good as bride because that is a lot to live up to. Also when Amazon delivers a book the day before it release date that has to be a sign from the universe that it will be good. No?

I like the bones of this story, it’s basically The Hunger Games with a magical twist. However, the constant switching between four POVs makes the pacing feel clunky. The “chessboard” perspective gives a wide view of the tournament, but it also kills the momentum every time the tension starts to build. I think the story would have been tighter and more engaging with just one or two perspectives instead of four.

Ummm are we going to have to read about all 7 of them! How the heck am I supposed to remember all these details during the tournament. Feel like they should just give you a leaflet with the book so you can just get a summary of them all.

Two-thirds done! At this point, I feel like I should earn a medal—or at least a commemorative mug that says “I survived 600+ pages of emotional chaos.” The plot has twisted so many times I’m basically doing literary yoga, and I’m not flexible enough for this.
Honestly, I’m just hoping the last third doesn’t finish me off completely. If I disappear, assume SenLinYu got me.

This book has such a rich atmosphere—I feel completely pulled into its world. The writing is immersive and layered, and I love how the themes of transformation and power are unfolding bit by bit. It’s one of those stories that makes me pause to savor the details, not just rush through the plot. Excited to see where the journey goes from here!

This series has been a little up and down for me. The last one was rubbish. I am a massive Tessa Bailey fan but I couldn’t even stand having it on my shelf. Let’s hope this is everything the other one should have been.
