Really enjoying the energy that Beatty brings. Thus far the book has been a darkly comic treat that I don't think many people could pull off effectively.

Well, finally moved on to the first chapter and... the first two paragraphs were dire. Pushing forward, the writing quickly settled down into something more reasonable. Not much happening to this point, which is concerning.

So, at the continued insistence of a few, I started the first book in Wheel of Time. I actually read the prologue last week and then... put it aside. Lots of eye-rolling. Not a promising start for someone who likes to intersperse fantasy novels into his reading list as a palette cleanser (like some do with romance novels) and has a pretty high tolerance for some of their more common misdemeanours.

Pleasantly surprised with this Bronze Age fantasy so far as I had general recollections of not being particularly impressed with when I read it more than fifteen years ago. It is trying something different, which I appreciate.

Quite enjoying this book so far, but the history of medical treatment/surgery is appropriately shudder-inducing.

Enjoying it so far, but not an easy book to wrap one's head around at times. Likely requires multiple readings (and a refresher on quantum mechanics).

Already really pleased with this book. It is a well-written and thought-provoking.
