Decent, good kinda mindless thriller to break up my fantasy binging

This is a book on my 26 for 2026 and I'm so glad! I have loved everythingggg from this author and I've heard nothing but great things about this trilogy-- but the blurp on the back of the book really intimidated me thinking it would be too intense and too political. But this is an easy 5 star already. I absolutely love the writing, the academy setting, and strong young female character. Think Mulan but super bad @ss!

Honestly this is going to easily be one of my favorite books of the year if not my best read overall. Excellent world building, writing and is hard to put down. I love reading a book where I’m thinking about the characters when I’m not reading. 😍

Super atmospheric… I love the snowy, cold, Swiss Alps setting. Perfect for a winter read without the overdone holiday theme. Loving it so far, I think it will either take an obvious turn or it’ll totally throw me for a loop!

You ever read a book so good that you don’t want to read it and you put it off because you don’t want it to end…
