I was wrong; chapter 1 ended on page 48.

The story is appropriately bleak.

I started reading with the intent to stop at the end of the first chapter. I'm on page 42 (of 325) and have not hit a chapter end - perhaps it is like other books and just one long slog.

Engaging. Fun if you like first-person dystopian non-thrillers.

Its one of those books that I wish I had had at the beginning of my IT career .... and know that I can't quite appreciate as fully as I will later in my IT career; the more complex your role in the software design/engineering process, the more useful will be this book to you.
