It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion, but it's fascinating. Am v surprised that I haven't had more second hand embarrassment besides the chapter about the wake so far.

Out protagonist sucks lmao, but this is a chance to read about a fictional bastard woman, which has been on my TBR list for awhile so let's see!

What.
(A genre shift 70 percent of the way through the book is. Something alright)

I'm mostly kind of just. Look, it can only be either Boone or Eli at this point, and I don't particularly like either option tbh.

I'm on her side, who thought sending her back to the cabin where her husband drowned nor even a year ago was a good idea??

I swear, if I keep reading a chapter before bed, I'm going to get freaked out and end up DNFing it. (Good book so far but just such a creepy aura, which is peculiar because I'm normally fine with creepy books, but this may end up being too much for me.)

Mandi is on page 27 of 240 of What Southern Women Know (That Every Woman Should): Timeless Secrets to Get Everything you Want in Love, Life, and Work
Read this as a teenager and thought it'd be a funny read as an adult, fully expecting it to not hold up in a lot of areas. A) fascinated by her experience with Southern women bc as a Southern woman, I do not have this experience with most of the women I know, B) already some super cringey moments about the South's history, and C) some... interesting perspectives about women thus far, but maybe a few useful tidbits?
