Jijinius is reading Miseria
an interesting retrospective. a logbook of what goes in behind the scenes of a social worker's life and the struggle of many communities in the country. really eye opening and very raw.
that being said, some of the language seemed off and harmful. some orientalist pov, a lot of weird descriptions, which i believe were coming from a raw real place, but couldn't help but "cringe" and turned me off the reading.

I am conflicted by this book. it might be the orientalist pov of some of her stories.. or how cut dry she paints morocco as being a hellhouse for sex and freedom. but one might argue how relevant sexual freedom is in a country where basic rights for women (in this case) are not even respected (rights to sexual freedom are still a must to obtain ofc) powerful stories of women from different backgrounds (caricatures)

very slow paced and endearing, although the character is flawed and "annoying"... (granted he's an old man, so that checks out"

very interestin(and technical) insights on why capitalism isn't the best system to follow if we want to keep our planet (and ourselves) because of the climate change crisis happening right now (if you couldn't tell!)
