- jets mom is annoying but why isn’t the rest of the fam more sad? lowkey they are all acting like they don’t care. her mom at least cares even if shes overbearing. how is dad okay with her staying in another house her last week
- also doesnt she have any friends
- i think jet is actually more tolerable now so that’s good
- luke is so suspicious but i don’t think he’s the killer

- interesting as usual for HJ books. but slower than normal. i should know things by now i seem like. but still interesting
- her being so unlikable means that when she dies at the end of the week, i wont be sad. this could have been a really depressing book
- i was wondering if billy would be a love interest. seems kind of unnecessary when she has 3 days left
- if she randomly lives, it will be such a cop out

Jet is unbearable, this is insane
she treats people with so much entitlement and condescension and i think all the things she says is supposed to come off as cool but it’s just annoying. like she’s just soo unlikeable
she’s genuinely awful to most of the people around her

I like Holly Jackson’s plots a LOT but i think im not a fan of her writing style

i hated the protagonist of the disappearance if Rachel Price too and it was so annoying. she was so so unlikeable and it just made it harder to get into even though holly jackson is so creative and the story itself was super interesting

it’s so exciting starting a series and enjoying it this much. i haven’t felt this in a while…
it’s like Harry Potter if the politics of the author are good. but also all the Roman stuff reminds me a lot of the Heroes of Olympus series. but it’s also got that darkness and horror of dystopian books. super interesting and engaging

I like Vis a lot he is funny. bit confused on his politics because why does he dislike the revolutionaries as much as he does when they are the only ones similar to him at all in what they think and also why would he praise cities bigger than even Caten (unless he’s truing to just prove a point)
Ulciscor is so annoying. he’s probably the bigger of the two evils

ch 13-15
i hate the way they curse in this book and the usage of “growl” . BUT so interesting i am super enjoying this book.
I also hate when characters are immediately good at something and i felt that way during the first fight a bit but now he has to actually work to become good which is more good to read imo

I liked the beginning of the book better than this adventure. don’t really care for it. Also I’ve been noticing this since the beginning but the way this author writes is a little odd. it’s just a bit too flowery. could cut down on a few words generally in my opinion. also no need to say anyone growled. i don’t even know what that means.

ive also been wondering what time period it’s set it.

very cool premise
I have been reading more than thinking but when i decide to think I will form my opinion about what this is saying about the real world.

heavy worldbuilding- had to go back and reread chs 1-3 with the information and familiarity i have from reading up to chp 6 (+ take notes). Some terms are used in context and then later explained which is so odd to me. Maybe it’s a stylistic choice idk

Chp 1-3

superb hook
and superb everything, not had a dull moment since first chapter. there are so many things alr I am curious about
I enjoyed the shift from ch 1 to 2. i could not have guessed that his next move would be fight club? he is a prison guard by day then gladiator by evening then goes home to his like third hustle at the orphanage. he is doing so many side quests but it’s just his daily routine

chapter 53- epilogue

i like that the ending isn’t a happily ever after. I was wondering how she was going to deal with that for a book set in 1930s in China

what else is there to say… Orion gets really funny when he’s close to death.
I love these characters and this world so much, i am so happy and yet absolutely devastated that im done with this series

ch 49- 51

Oliver has grown on me. he’s SO injured that he doesn’t have opportunity to be weird.

i never liked Silas anyway. this man is like a quadruple agent. unless his betrayal is just a plot twist and he’s “actually good the whole tjme” that would be such a cop out :/

this little hiest is super fun. good thing they ARE ALL on the same page …

Rosalind, Orion, Celia, Alisa in J + R house in zhouzhang is so sweet and so perfect

Orion waking up with no memories and immediately flirting with Roma is something i didnt know I wanted until it happened.

i kind of like Orion being restarted. it’s funny to watch him operate as he is. i hope he gets his full memory back though

Roma and Alisa reunion 😢 Rosalind and Juliette reunion 😢 i needed this. this healed a forgotten wound in my heart that has been there since 2022.

okay pheobe single handedly taking down her crazy evil scientist mother is everything. but i kinda hate the way she treats Silas and i would never defend a man but i feel bad for him.

i want more Orion. the fact that they may not fix him until the end and we wont actually get much of the normal Orion is so sad. he’s so great i love him. he is like Bolin

i felt this way about OVE too but all the stakes of flf just seem lessened in the beginning of this book. no character is worried about the chemical killings any longer it seems. and why on earth is Rosalind going on tour. i hate that soo much, it feels so out of place with this series.

i miss the setting and tone and suspense of FLF including the ending. this just isn’t picking up where that left off…
