An amazing book that made me feel seen as an Afro American living in the US. I highly recommend to anyone looking to understand the struggles and the source of the societal conditioning of Afro Americans. Understanding is key to developing the capacity to change. This book is a wonderful step toward that. Hooks provides valuable insight in this book. Highly recommended.

Am sad

This one moves really quickly, it’s not my favorite so far because of how out of the way crouch goes to make the main character seem “smart” but is most definitely a page turner. I’m not sure where the ending will go at this point.

Honestly, haven’t had a book teach me and move me so much in a while. Gottlieb is a wonderful author and her story is amazing.

So far not the most entertaining book, but chugging along.
