1. everyone desperately trying to retcon how Stanley Forbes acted in this book because he becomes a more sympathetic character in book 2 is both hilarious and horrible. A traumatic childhood doesn’t cause you to become racist.
2. I love catching all of the slip-ups when they changed the setting to America. 7 PM isn’t an early dinner. We don’t go back to school in September.

so far this feels like a kinda trippy first person video game. I love it.

Something that’s so interesting to me is how deeply everyone mourns Patroclus, not just Achilles. Everyone feels his loss and cries over his death. And he wasn’t a great warrior, he didn’t get glory in battle. They just mourn him because he was kind and gentle. something so striking is the equal amount of care that the story gives to both sides. most of the culture or content around the iliad focuses on the greek side but the story lists all the trojan commanders along with the greek, it tells us the names of who died on both sides, and it also points out that these men are also dying away from home, and want to go back to their loved ones

So the reason that the Snows don’t have any money is because all their assets were in district 13, which at this point Snow thinks was destroyed. So now I need to know what his reaction was when he became president and found out what really happened in 13 bc I know that crash out was LEGENDARY
