one underrated detail of TBOSAS is that Snow decides to marry Livia Cardew, but in Mockingjay Plutarch’s assistant is named Fulvia Cardew. So did she just never think to mention that her probably uncle was the president 😭

I need anyone who liked Snow in the TBOSAS movie to read the book bc the first time he’s going to visit Lucy Gray in district twelve he gives up almost immediately and decides she’s not worth it because he’s lost and having to walk in the heat. like be so fr

So the reason that the Snows don’t have any money is because all their assets were in district 13, which at this point Snow thinks was destroyed. So now I need to know what his reaction was when he became president and found out what really happened in 13 bc I know that crash out was LEGENDARY

It’s really interesting to me how almost common it seems that the capitol citizens turned to cannibalism when they started going hungry, but the districts have been consistently starving for years, so much so that dying of starvation is a normal end there, but we never hear of cannibalism in the districts. And yet capitol propaganda paints THEM as the “savages.”

In 2 chapters Snow has complained more than Katniss did across three books where her life is regularly threatened

something I’ve lovedddd about reading the illustrated editions is that there’s so much detail put into these. especially in showing consistency with their clothes and injuries, in a way that the movies don’t. it’s just clear so much care went into each one and it’s beautiful

thinking about how the first intentional act of rebellion that katniss does ever is after rue’s death, and it’s just her showing that rue was a human being, and that katniss is too, and it’s just so beautiful and moving

this family tree is a CIRCLE

the way I could write a whole essay on the way generational trauma presents itself in this novel and the way every character passes on to their children the behaviors that they learned from their parents and nobody ever breaks the cycle. none of these kids ever really stood a chance. it’s one of the more interesting aspects of the book that I never see discussed but it’s so heartbreaking
