So much of the middle age science was centered around the reading of the stars. Very nicely detailed about how certain groups of people (in this instance monks from English Abbys) went about measuring the celestial stars and developing methods of tracking the change in earths position.

Looking forward to reading this book as the prologue claims this book will be a more immersive look at how science was conducted in the “dark ages.”

Science in this time was not defined with big Eureka moments, or by household names. The following line stood out to me and I think it will be beneficial to keep in mind as I move forward with this book.

We don't get a lot of information about the midlife of Samuel. This book was a new line of thought for me about this biblical character.

Nice continuation of the previous book.
Helps the reader get more contextual clues from the time. I’ve been looking for this book for years, so far I have not been disappointed in the writing!

When do you think the first "program" was written? Any ideas on what it was written for? I was surprised when I found out the answer was a program written on punch cards to help with looms and create the same pattern over and over again "within the limits of human error."

Where do you think the most costly interstate system piece was constructed?
Who were the "founding fathers" of our current interstate system? One of the most remembered members of that group had no idea that someone had thought up and planned a system prior to his dream.
Great book, very informative.
