I don't really mind though because it was lovely that she got pregnant and I am pleased they could make it all work. Also, I guess having a clear finish line made it much easier. Their reunion before the epilogue was also so cinematic and cute. I loved them together!

I do understand why he did that, he was trying to protect her, but also it did shatter both of their worlds. It was quite ironic really that in the end Lola was the one that came to Jason's rescue and allowed him to get out of his record deal earlier. Was it slightly ridiculous that in the end they managed to navigate tours without an issue when that had been a major problem a while back? Yes.

I hated Lola for most of the book thinking she was the one breaking them up so it was a shock to find out it had actually been Jason's own label. I was glad that they became better friends and she got the help she needed towards the end. I was pleased that Sloan took the time away that she needed and it was so horrid that she was made to think Jason was cheating on her when she returned as a surprise.

I also enjoyed it being so closely related to the previous book in the series, with Sloan being best friends with Kristin so also getting a glimpse into her life. Sloan and Jason were really cute together to begin with before everything started to kind of unravel when it got serious and they had to go together on tour.

This book was so cute. I have never read a popstar-fan romance before and I really enjoyed that aspect of fame being added into the mix, it reminded me of Nora goes off script by Annabel Monoghan. The writing and plotting were nothing particularly special but I can always count on Abby Jimenez to give a really easy read with a nice meet-cute. I loved Tucker and that whole start was great.

I really enjoyed the vibes and the passion and desire between two people. Not the best read ever but definitely enjoyable.

'he was more me than I had ever been myself, because when he became me and I became him in bed so many years ago, he was ad would forever remain...my brother, my friend, my father, my son, my husband, my lover, myself.' 'We found the stars, you and I. And this is given once only.' I won't say I was invested the entire time because there was quite a bit of repetition in what was happening.

He needed a change of experience to actually grow into this new person I think. It was sad that they didn't get more time though and that even when they met up again in the future it was never the same. They both always knew that what they had had for even that short amount of time was the best of their life -

It was really pleasing that Oliver ended up having the same feelings as Elio had the entire time and I was glad that they were able to have even a little bit of time together. Those couple of days in Rome were magical to read, especially the night with the book party and them going to dinner with a huge group of random strangers. It really felt like Elio was living a different life and I think he deserved that,

I really randomly read this but it actually had all the right summer vibes. I have been reading a few things which feel a bit stream of consciousness like recently and this had the same feeling. I did enjoy being in Elio's perspective actually though, it was really interesting to see his feelings changing so rapidly about how he felt/how he thought Oliver felt about him.

'you make all your plans and build all your projects but how many of them are yours, and how many of them are fragments of someone else's life'; 'the only way to make a better world is to bring up our sons as feminists.' Stylist reviewed it as being 'intelligent, sexy and brilliantly observed' and that is the perfect description. It really was a work of art and so so cleverly composed.

'I pin some photos to my Pinterest board, and get distracted by something I see on Twitter, and end up reading a story by the New Yorker's television critic, which leads me back to Netflix, and I forget entirely that I even have a kitchen, or a family, or a body'; 'inside his laugh I hear the real question he's asking';' August sweats on into September';

It also kind of felt right that there was no more closure on the characters at the end than at the beginning. There were also some marvellous quotes (so well observed and real):

I really enjoyed that though and unlike with The waves it was easier to follow along with, maybe as there were less characters. It was lovely to see language being used as art rather than simply a means of communication. I also of course liked the undercurrent of a fight for women's rights which was present in both stories.

I do wish there was some closure on Florence walking in on Henry cheating on her though, that was a good cliff hanger and really interesting. It was also clever how there was no signposting as to who's perspective it was in and yet you got to used to the switch between the two it was easy to identify. As both sections went on they felt as though they got more Woolf in style - more stream of consciousness.

It takes skill to be able to put two completely different stories into one book with only the shared prospect of the setting and make them work alongside one another but I think it was pulled off quite well. I wasn't so keen on also getting the man's perspective as well as the woman's though. It made the fact Florence was having an affair feel a bit worse. I guess they both ended up cheating though.

It was also interesting that the Johnathan Clementine was dating happened to be the same one Anna had previously dated. Then of course there was the second and interluding story of Henry and Florence. This took me a bit longer to be interested in because it was such a change from the other characters. I ended up loving their story again though and being interested in how many themes overlapped between the two.

Desire was clearly a central topic throughout though and it was interesting the conversation about whether one should give into their desires or not. I didn't have much of an opinion about whether Anna and David stayed together as they were actually never together. Maybe that is why the fact she was cheating on him didn't really feel wrong. I liked the change in setting when she visited him in London though.

It was interesting to see that side of Anna be awakened as well. Also it was completely crazy that both Clementine and Jonathan cheated on each other with the same person at one stage and yet managed to stay together in the end. I also liked how sex, pleasure, desire and sexuality was talked about very openly and was kind of placed on the same wavelength as everything else.

I also don't know how Lauren Elkin managed to make 2019 feel so vintagy and of the past but I really liked that, even things like scrolling on twitter for hours seemed to be beautiful in the way they were written. Anna's friendship with Clementine was really interesting. I knew they were going to spend some time romantically together because there was always that sort of sexual energy between them.

The setting of french apartments and smoking inside was just so aesthetic and had the right vibe. I also liked that there were no speech marks, everything kind of flowed into each other. I enjoyed how we were just following Anna's life without there really being much happening other than her meeting Clementine, going to therapy and wanting to redo her kitchen, it was more about interiority which I loved.

It really was just a complete work of art - from the cover, to the formatting, to the writing. I loved it all. I particularly liked that there were so many topics covered which I was really interested in like art, psychology, motherhood, gender etc. In many ways it was a study of life and how it interludes with these topics more than a plotted story.

This book intrigued me because of the way it was formatted (with sometimes as little as a sentence on a page). It was that which allowed me to get through it so quickly as I was able to absolutely fly through the paged which made me more motivated to continue reading. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, it was different from anything else I have read.

The ending of Sam going back to London with Georgia and then a while later all the good characters meeting up to go to Paris was great. I wasn't sure whether there would be a happy ending as it is Jessa Hastings but I am really pleased that there was. Loved it all so much, the pages just flew by, I didn't feel like I was reading and it was thoroughly enjoyable!

I also liked that Georgia and Tennyson became much better friends than they had been before. He became a really good protective brother - there were some great protective men in this! I liked aunt Vi, she was sweet and also the whole backstory of Georgia's romance with Storm (that had a nice little link to Magnolia Parks which I loved!).

I also liked that Georgia started a nice fatherly relationship with the man her father was having an affair with, that was sweet and I actually came to like him. It was so interesting when she was trying to crack the mystery and could just read him like a book (her ability to read people made every argument interesting actually).

I get that he liked Sam but, Sam basically chose Georgia and wasn't even gay so he couldn't really expect anything. He then turned really horrid when he started drinking again and became friends with Maryanne. I am so pleased that in the end he got back sober and apologised. It was also kinda nice that he got left the majority of the money when it was revealed their dad was secretly gay (which I saw coming).

Of course Sam and Georgia were cute and everything but it almost felt like a side plot with the family drama being the main one. I kind of liked that actually because other than a few little arguments there was no major third-act breakup or anything and they were clearly sticking together no matter what. It was so annoying how Oliver took the entire thing though.
