I'm still not sure how all the rambling backstory is going to lead to the actual story, but it's at least keeping me entertained

I'm glad stuff is happening now, but I'm still unclear why it's taken us 200+ pages to get here, when the world building stuff didn't even start until the previous chapter

I feel like the author read hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and then became determined to write in the same way, although they do not pull it off as well as Douglas Adams

A woman gets betrayed by a man and takes revenge through witchcraft? God forbid women do anything

Things are at least happening now, although not what I expected, and I feel like the guys figured out what is going on waaaaay too quickly, considering they have spent the majority of this book unaware of anything going on that wasn't who they were fucking

I picked this book up because it was supposed to be a spooky ancient monster stalking the crew of a cargo ship, but so far the only things that have happened is lots of cargo ship repairs, a bunch of men getting with a bunch of women, and the author casually rearranging all the Devon geography. The only reason I'm still reading it is that something has to happen at some point, right?
