lots of interesting developments so far. prologue was excellent, chapter 1 raised more questions than answers, following two were interesting set-up. let's see where this leads.

Chapter 6 is my definite highlight so far, in some ways a parallel to Jacen's experience with the cavern beast and dying girl in Traitor. Or is perhaps more similar to Jacen's attempts at gardening aboard the seedship's nursery...?

Depressing last few pages. If Shatterpoint continues like this it might actually surpass Star by Star in terms of darkness.

Thus begins Marlow- I mean Willard- I mean Mace's journey into the heart of darkness. A good, engaging start, but is it just me or does the writing and prose in these first few pages feel a lot more... by the book than Traitor?

Interesting how the Trade Feds seem to be on the receiving end here. That's one thing I've been missing from the movies and the EU so far: an attempt to flesh this party out beyond just villain of the week.

Rogue Planet, round two. Great couple of introductory chapters here: Anakin & Obi-Wan, Sienar & Tarkin, Vergere, and the general state of decay characteristic of this era are set up perfectly. Glad I decided to give this one another go.

Interesting exchange between Anakin and a Tusken here - wonder if Lucas initially planned to have it in here or if Brooks unwittingly created a profound contrast between the character in here and later on, in AOTC. A great scene either way.

Anakin and Kitster are talking about drinking a ruby bliel, but I thought that was a wine... in fact, I spent the last couple of years thinking it a wine after playing Jedi Outcast... this changes everything......

A new beginning, indeed. I don't think these conversations would work nearly as well if it wasn't for Luceno bringing everything from the past 18 books together and logically drawing conclusions from them.

Extremely strong opening 50 pages, even if it seemed weirdly filler-y at the beginning. Great how Luceno already referenced more past events, characters, concepts etc. in these five chapters than the previous four books put together probably did, lol

Great conversation here, really reminded me of Elegos and Shedao Shai back in Ruin

Corran's suspicions about the Shamed Ones seem wildly presumptuous... and also quite in character.
