There's something about the writing that make this story captivating and easy to read and the illustrations are gorgeous!!
Don't love some of the voices from the audiobook so will mostly be sticking with the physical.

Actually really loving the cheese level with this because it's nearing Hallmark movie season and it reminds me of my mom.

This thing is going to end on a cliffhanger and I have to wait for the rest to be translated!

I am half way through this and I do not care. It is so dry and feels pretty disjointed.

This book is *beautiful*. Holy cow are the illustrations gorgeous.
So far I love the writing and the story is reminding me of The Little Princess, which is sweet.

I will say the text is really hard to read

I tried to read the actual book many, many times and never got into it. So far, angsty boys be angsty but I'm enjoying it and the art is beautiful. I wanna live in Blue's house.

I'm not kidding, I think I'm just being haunted books with typos at this point. There's another one in this book.

Liking the story but the writing is not very good

I was really looking forward to this but somehow every character seems like an annoying caricature of their Book 1 selves 🙄

Ortega is a fantastic author though. This is sad but also really well written and there's *a lot* of really clear and poignant messaging about rising up against oppressive regimes, the power we have together to make change, and just good commentary about mental health through the avenue of the psychiatrist helping Seven with her anger.

I'm really really hoping the Spares get their dues and these horrible people are brought down because so far this book is big sad.
TW for parental abandonment, extreme prejudice leading to hunger, poverty, and societal abuse - especially of minors - a character breakdown that includes suicidal ideation, grief, animal and human injuries at the hands of said abusers. This is sad for me. I can't imagine being a MGder!

I've had this on my holds for a while

I feel bad, but I'm kinda ready for this to be done.

I will say, I don't think it is surprising in the least to the reader that the Primetera source and the necklace they want to steal are the same thing. I think Cecile's reveal answers *why* the kingpin wants it, but I was not surprised at all that Kane and Zaria want the same necklace. I'm glad we finally got to the point of the book where that "reveal" happened.
