The plot line has definitely picked up... I'm not as sus of Anne as I was in the beginning. If anything, I'm kind of worried for Anne because Marco is batshit crazy. However, Anne still has a secret that her and her mother, Alice, have kept since Anne was a teenager. If Marco hadn't let his business fail, Cora wouldn't be gone.

HAD TO pick up another Lapena book because I'm OBSESSED!!! So far this book is going really good! It's centered around Anne and Marco Conti who went out next door to their neighbors house, leaving their 6 month old child alone in the house. After returning, they discover that Cora is missing. So far, the detectives, as well as me, seem curious of Anne who has seen a psychiatrist but won't tell why ...

Claire has now met Eva, a woman also looking to run away from her former life and disappear, and they have decided to switch lives. Claire will now be posing as Eva, ditching her duties as Rory's wife, and flying to Oakland, California. Eva, a widow who seems to have a lot of emotional baggage, is now posing as Claire. However, Claire was supposed to go to Puerto Rico. But Eva isn't too sure about that plan anymore.

Court did not go as planned & I'm not surprised. Erica, who Patrick had previously slept with while married to his ex-wife Lindsey, has seriously put this family through hell. Now, Stephanie is dealing with twin girls all on her own + her husband is sitting in a jail cell after failing a polygraph, & being charged w murder. Atp, I'm hoping Stephanie leaves him, cuz who knows what else he's lying abt

THINGS JUST GOT INTENSE. This courtroom scene just brought to light the possibility of domestic abuse from Patrick to his previous deceased wife Lindsey.
I truly feel for Stephanie right now. She tired, and completely beat, not just from having colicky twins, but also from her husbands secrets that are slowly ruining her.

Shari does NOT MISS!! I'm truly stumped at how this mystery could possibly unfold. There are so many paths that Lapena could take & all of them seem feasible.
One thing I truly love about her books is the insight she gives into the other characters lives. Although the main characters are Stephanie, Patrick and Erica, I love reading about Nancy, Niall and Hanna's lives as well. However, I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE ERICA!

So far so good! Already a few twists and turns which I love! Can’t say I’m the biggest fan of Philomena yet, but that could change. I do, however, love Philomena & Henry’s relationship, especially with Henry’s son! I also am eager to see how Philomena’s fathers past affects her job as a Police Officer. Also like the allusion of the George Floyd in the book as that has played a part in Philomena’s job.
