Part of me wants to give Jon Ronson for noticing how creepy and entitled his fellow straight white men are and talking about it. Another part of me thinks it must be nice to have been oblivious. So far none of the behavior he has described is particularly surprising.

Annoyed by the author’s decision to emphasize John Brown’s acts of violence in the Kansas / Missouri Border War and exclude mention of massacres committed by Missouri Bushwackers. In just one instance they murdered many community members in Lawrence, Kansas, including all white Army recruits, and burned the fledgling free state stronghold. All in the name of preserving the institution of chattel slavery.
