This story intrigues me because right from the start it talks about Brenau University, which supposedly holds the Dare Stones, although many believe it to be an elaborate historical hoax. I worked at Breanu University for several years, so this is a neat beginning to the tale for me.

I'm finding that with Elizabeth Goudge I'm a bit of a mood reader. Her writing is always gorgeous, but there are times when I'm a bit too impatient for it! Shame on me. :-) I'm taking the last book in this trilogy slowly and it's worth it.

Well, it's good to know that bratty, spoiled children haven't changed a bit in 180 years! 😂

Grant is a beautiful writer. For some reason this sentence made me tear up.

This book is slow going, but I'm really enjoying it.

I'm halfway through this book. Does anyone else think Livia’s obsession with her 40th birthday party is slightly psychotic? At one point she says that she has been planning this party for 20 years. Really? When you were twenty years old you were thinking about your 40th birthday party? There are other improbable aspects to this novel as well, but for some reason I'm hung up on this, lol.
