I started chapter 1 with my girlfriend and we enjoyed it so far. I just finished chapter two, and I am still enjoying the book. I’m looking forward to the rest!

Our struggles define our successes. Life is a never ending upward spiral of problems and slightly upgraded problems. Questions to ask other and think about are:
“What pain do you want in your life? What are you willing to struggle for?”

There are a lot of decisive moments in our day which lead us down a productive or unproductive path; aim to become more aware of these moments. Two minute rule; start a new habit but stop after two minutes. Aim to do this daily, and eventually we will want to continue longer. Standardize before you optimize; don’t try to improve a habit until you’ve made it regular.

Make it more attractive. The greater the attractiveness the higher the opportunity a habit will become habit forming. One can also use temptation building to help increase habits we need to do. Essentially, we are pairing something we need with something we want. For example, after I wake up and using the restroom (current habit), I will brush my teeth and floss(need). After flossing, I will read my book (want).

Three exercises to practice. Make a list of all the daily habits you have now without judgement or criticism, and after make bother column with all the things that happen to you each day without fail.
Intention implementation:
I will [new habit] at [time] in [location]z
Or you can also try habit stacking
I will [new habit], after i [current habit].
After I wake up and I use the restroom, I will read atomic habits.

This is an amazing book so far. It is important for us to shift the perspective of habits not on what they will achieve for us, but rather who they will help us become. We become are habits and the only way to change is to start by asking ourselves who do we want to be and focus on our identity and forming habits that help support that identity.
