throughout western history, female sexuality has been minimized and reduced to reproduction. the clitoris has been overlooked despite being central to female pleasure, showing that women’s sexuality has long been treated as secondary. religious, cultural, & social beliefs have reinforced this, even in the name of god, with female genital mutilation being one of the most devastating examples.
