Jeffty is Five (1977) 4/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Super interesting and beautifully written tragic ending.

The Whimper of Whipped Dogs (1973) 3/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ A slightly controversial one but I love shocking art. I will research the Genovese murder and societal response another time because now I'm very intrigued.

Chatting with Anubis (1995) 2/5 stars ⭐️⭐️ I think this one was a little lost on me 😅

The Deathbird (1974) 4.5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 What a clusterfuck of wonder, I loved it. Really enjoying this series of stories so far.

Ok so my 2025 reading challenge was the first time I've flopped and not massively exceeded the goal I set myself. Although I refuse to be disappointed because it was a year of so much going on and constantly battling burn-out. I've set a more realistic goal for this year and I'm back on the books 🤓

I am really enjoying this book so far - it's a very unique concept!

Enjoying this a bit more now but the writing does feel very clunky and YA.

Giving this another read because it's been a while and if I pick up another book with clunky writing I'll end up in a reading slog.

God this premise has so much potential but the execution so far is falling short. There's elements of repetition that are just so unnecessary and make it seem 'clunky' to read. The FMC has referenced Scarlet Letter and Handmaid's Tale so many times I've lost count. And some of the dialogue feels like it's a pushed agenda of the correct way to speak to someone, it makes the characters seem one dimensional and bland.

Absolutely loving this so far and it's driving me mad that I can't binge read the whole thing in one go!

I just don't have a bloody clue what's going on, this book is a fever dream 😵‍💫

Read chapters 1-8 for an impromptu friend book club and absolutely loved it and gutted I have to wait before I can read more 😭
