One thing is now obvious: the father of Michelle's friend had a great impact on how she wanted to be part of presidential stuff.

I am wondering why she is imagining how jumping off the window would be when the servant asks her to jump from it instead of shouting at her and firing her. Lol! She is crazy and too naive!

Something very clear about the narrator is that she underestimates herself and constantly compares herself to her husband’s first wife. It feels as if, because she sees herself as inferior, she was even willing to enter into this marriage, and by placing herself in a position of comparison—especially through the servants—she ends up confirming her own sense of inadequacy.

The thing is, I can’t stop myself from reading psychology books — and when I do, they sometimes poke parts of my brain I thought were gone or at least quietly retired… turns out they were just on unpaid leave. This book definitely dragged them back to work.
