i won an advanced reader’s copy of this book and i have to say i’m very much enjoying it so far! historical fiction, two sisters POV, and a murder mystery (but quite mild as they go — more about the social mystery than gruesome details)

the writing is very charming. it’s been so long since i’ve read a physical book with moving and my collection in storage, that alone is exciting about this as well!

actually really enjoying this! when you say "think pretty little liars but at a ballet school" the feral pll-obsessed-dancer 16 y/o left in my brain says "yes, please" :') plus, after starting the book i found out they made a netflix series which i plan to watch after reading both books. it's exactly what it says on the tin but its fun okay

don't mind me juggling way too many books at once 🫣 my tbr is too long and my attention span is too chaotic lol

maggie never misses i am once again sitting here with my jaw on the floor as things start to wrap up — are you kidding meeeeee??? how did i not see this coming but also :(((((

this is actually really sad so far which i guess was to be expected knowing how it ends. bree talks about how riley taught them to target people no one would miss, people that wouldn't make the evening news; the same way he'd chosen all of them to turn into newborns. :((( but anywhomst, i really just read smeyer for nostalgia's sake these days but all things considered i am enjoying this one so far.

alix never disappoints!! 🥹 it’s amazing just how much she packs into her short stories such as this one. beautiful writing as always and quite an emotional one so far. also a very unique pov (second person present tense, predominantly); you don’t see it often at all, but it works for this book.
