A little mundane at the moment as someone who has taken intro psych classes & knows a bit of A&P. Dr. Kolk is setting the scene & tone for his upcoming chapters rn, im loving the refresher course

I’m very fascinated with where this book is headed. I love the study he just talked about where Vietnam Vets were asked to watch a movie while they keep their hand in a bucket of ice water, the strong emotions they felt during the movie helped block pain receptors they may have felt from the cold water. The conclusion they had was that strong emotions can block pain. Fascinating!
